Default B.o.B. Disputes Rap Retirement, "I Feel Like I'll Be In The Music Industry For The Rest Of My Life"

Grand Hustle rapper B.o.B. recently considered how long of a run he plans to make within the music industry and when, if at all, he would hang up the microphone for good.

Promising fans another decade in music, the 21 year-old imagined the possibility of never retiring.

"Ten years, maybe? I don't know, I'd be limiting myself. Maybe by 40? I don't know. You know what's funny? I feel like I'll be in the music industry for the rest of my life, like Quincy Jones. He's not necessarily at the forefront of everything anymore, but he's in it for the long haul. I could be in it even after I'm an artist. I love performing, I love playing music on the stage for people. So even if I got older, maybe I'd just start a band, and be a drummer in the band. I don't know." (Complex)

B.o.B.'s Grand Hustle boss, T.I., recently said he hoped to be done with rap by the age of 40.

"I'm not going to be the 40-year-old rapper. I would not," Tip told CNN in a recent interview. "That's Jay-Z. He's doing it very well. Hats off, but I just don't see that for me." Tip prefers to take the path of another super-successful rapper. "If I had the option to [be] Jay-Z [or] Will Smith, I think I'd go with Will," he revealed. "I'm a Jay-Z fan. I have a lot of admiration and respect for Jay and his legacy. But I feel like Will, he gets to spend more time with his family. He gets to be home more and actually raise his kids. I feel like he has more of a home life...and the money don't hurt. Twenty million dollars a flick ain't bad." (Rap-Up)

His debut, Adventures of Bobby Ray, topped the sales chart last May.

As expected, fans of the XXL Freshman alum picked up 84,200 copies of his new disc over the last week, according to the Nielsen SoundScan. The rapper/multi-instrumentalist currently has both the No. 1 album and No. 1 song ("Nothin' On You") in the country. His second single, "Airplanes," is currently working its way up the charts--landing at the No. 9 spot just last week. (XXL Mag)

After its chart-topping success, B.o.B. shared his post-release reaction.

"To have a number one album is definitely unexpected," B.o.B. said about his debut's chart placement. "I was really hoping, just to have people buy it and that it was going to be in the stores. It's crazy because is it going to be in 'all' the stores? We went to the Best Buys, the Targets, just bought up the whole shelf. We even took the little barcode thing on the shelf that they label the shelf with, so it was a good time." (Hip Hollywood)
